Operational Responsibilities
· Handle Customs’ EMS (ISO 14001) and OHSAS 18001 maintenance and recertification activities, to ensure that work environment is healthy and safe
· Schedule, deploy and report Environment and Safety Management Systems Internal Audits and external audits, to check the system’s functions
· Coordinate the initiation of precautionary and right actions, and implement action plans, to resolve non conformities, identified during internal or external audits, and conduct follow up audits
· Assist and administer in developing, implementing, and improving programs for the Environmental and Safety Management System
· Manage activities concerning, requests for Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures, various Environmental Health and Safety related documents, revising and updating documents to be current etc and record and maintain any environment, health and safety related information
· Arrange Environmental Health and Safety Management Review Meetings and prepare minutes and circulate with relevant staff, to update current happenings, discussions and decisions taken during the meeting, to improve compliance with Dubai Customs’ Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures
· Investigate and record incidents of injuries, illness, material damage, production loss etc to assess risks, review and take necessary steps for overall safety performances
· Assist in conducting training for all Dubai Customs Personnel, in order to familiarize them with Dubai Customs OHSAS & EMS Management Systems, safety inductions and promote health awareness programs
· Develop good working relationships with departmental contacts for Environment, Health & Safety issues and with accreditation agencies of OHSAS, EMS, and ISO etc.
· Contribute for improving quality in Environmental Health and Safety services, while making annual strategic and operational plan for Quality Assurance section, Strategic and Excellence department and for other departments in Dubai Customs and implement the plans made
· In order to maintain Dubai Customs work environment safe and healthy, advise management and employees on:
- Preventing injury and illness to personnel and avoiding damage to customs assets
- Legal requirements affecting environment, safety, health and welfare
- Provision and use of protective clothing and equipment
- Ensuring suitability, from an environment and safety viewpoints, of new equipment, and validity of all appropriate test certificates
- Potential hazards on new contracts, before work starts and precautions required changes in legislation
· Performa all the assigned tasks from the line manager with reliability, honesty, and discretion
